TAABA Picnic Report 2014

We had a glorious time at the Toledo Area American Baptist Association Annual Picnic on June 8, 2014.

Side Cut Park was alive with excitement as we gathered with our sister churches from around the metro area for the afternoon. The day featured fun, fellowship and of course, FOOD!

Special thanks goes out to the committee for planning such a great event. It was raining early but it stopped long enough for us to enjoy. Seven churches participated with almost one hundred in attendance.

Don't miss our next TAABA event and another opportunity to fellowship with our sister churches!

Cass Road Installs Rev Ruby Radford

It was an exciting day on Sunday, May 4, 2014 as Cass Road Baptist Church installed new pastor Rev. Ruby Radford in a special installation service. Dignitaries and pastors from across the region joined in this celebration.

Cass Road Baptist Deacon Richard Taylor acted as the "Master of Ceremonies" as he presided over the wonderful afternoon. Deacon Ersel Marsh presented the Invocation and a laying on of hands. The service featured music from a combined Installation Choir featuring members of Cass Road and Third Baptist along with the Women of Genesis ensemble and soloist Annette McGorty. Maumee Mayor Richard Carr joined in the greetings. Rev. Lee Williams (Chaplain/Pastor with St. Luke's Hospital), Rev. James Willis (Moderator of TAABA and Pastor of St. Paul's), Rev. Art Battle (Gethsemane Descipleship Church), Rev. Ben Green (Church of the New Covenant) provided additional greetings.

The Installation Message was presented by Rev. Dr. Langston Bannister. Rev. Radford's grandchildren Reanna, Ciara and Chris provided a reading of a special poem written by their grandmother. Regional minister Rev. Jane Gibbons installed Rev. Radford. A declaration of the charge was presented by Cass Road Search Committee Chair Homer Shank along with Deacon Chair Kathy MOran. Rev. Truett Fogel closed with our benediction. Then, as all good Baptists do, we celebrated with a potluck. An amazing day celebrating the service and dedication of Rev. Ruby Radford.

Rev. James Willis Honored for 10 Years of Service at St. Paul

TAABA joins with St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church (1502 North Detroit Avenue, Toledo) honoring our current TAABA Moderator, Rev. James Willis, for ten years of faithful service along with First Lady Linnie B. Willis. Pastor Willis is a servant of the Servant, dedicated to God's ministry not only at St. Paul but through our association, the state and the country. He truly answered the call of God and said, "Here am I, send me!" This was the theme for a wonderful day of activities based on Isaiah 2:8 on October 20, 2013. The day began with a praise celebration at the morning worship service. A second service was held that afternoon to recognize Pastor and First Lady Willis. TAABA celebrates with St. Paul's in this wondrous time of honor for a family committed to God in faithful service!

TAABA 2013 Picnic Report

On Sunday June 9, 2013 we held our Annual TAABA Picnic. The Toledo Area American Baptist Association was blessed to have favorable weather that helped to add to the program. We were again blessed to have Rev. Jane Gibbons in attendance as our special guest this year. This is always a highlight and a special time when she is able to share with us. Special thanks go out to the TAABA Picnic Committee for a job well done. Deacon General Bobbitt, Deacon James Sebree, Sister Shirley Sebree and Sister Deborah Gardner did and outstanding job as being the host. We had a total of 103 members who attended the annual picnic. Each year we look forward to the excitement of the  gathering, but we also look forward to finding out which Congregation brought to largest number. And this year, the winner is... (drum roll) St. Paul Baptist Church. God is good and we can't wait for the next TAABA event! Thanks to all of our participating churches for your continued support in working to make TAABA the Association that it should be!  Enjoy a video of the day's events:

The Fall Rally & Pig Roast for all Toledo Area American Baptist Association (TAABA) churches was held on November 12, 2012. Our host was Third Baptist Church, 402 Pinewood Avenue, Toledo, Ohio 43604.

Everything kicked off with a pig display and photo shoot followed by a wonderful dinner including James Sebree's homemade ice cream taster.  It was a lively scene as everyone enjoyed fellowship with our sister churches.  Worship followed upstairs in the sanctuary featuring a message from our International Ministries missionaries Emerson and Ivy Wu. Great music was presented by Third Baptist's Unity Choir and we celebrated the installation of our 2013 TAABA officers.  A wonderful evening was had by all.
